짙은 청록의 하늘과 초록빛 들판 위에 노랑·주황이 뒤섞인 은행나무가 화면의 중심을 가득 채우며, 강렬한 색 대비 속에서도 부드러운 정서를 전한다. 과슈의 불투명한 물성이 만들어내는 단단한 색면과 겹겹의 붓질이, ‘고마움’이라는 감정을 한 그루 나무의 형상으로 응축시킨 작품이다.
